Hispano Suiza delves into the challenges of technology in Prime Video’s “Day One” series

  • The Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera joins the cast of ‘Day One’, a new Prime Video series, set in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress.
  • In the series, the hypercar belongs to Diskin—played by actor Jordi Mollà—owner of a large technology company and one of the leading characters.
  • The presence of the model reflects the connection between technology, design, and mobility, values that define both the brand and the city of Barcelona itself.

Hispano Suiza has collaborated with the new series Day One, an international Prime Video production set in Barcelona that explores the relationship between innovation and humanity in the digital age, against the backdrop of the Mobile World Congress, one of the world’s most important technology events, which gathers around 110,000 visitors every year, now celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera, the brand’s latest hypercar unveiled in 2024 to mark its 120th anniversary, appears in the series as a natural part of the technological universe in which the story unfolds. In the series the hypercar is owned by Diskin, an influential technology entrepreneur played by Jordi Mollà, whose vision represents both the transformative potential of innovation and the risks associated with its evolution.

Set in some of Barcelona’s leading technological enclaves, Day One follows the story of Ulises Albet, played by Álex González, a computer prodigy who returns to the city after a decade away from the sector to face a new technological weapon that could have serious consequences for humanity, reflecting the dilemmas that technology can pose when not used responsibly. The cast is rounded out by Alba Planas, Asier Etxeandia, Renata Notni, and Iván Massagué, with a special appearance by Mireia Oriol.

Filmed in iconic locations of innovation —such as the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), the ALBA Synchrotron, Talent Arena, the Collserola Tower, Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), the Torre Glòries viewpoint, and the 22@ district—the series turns the city of Barcelona into an additional character in the story, a setting where technology and humanity live together in constant tension.

Day One consists of six 45-minute episodes and was directed by Marta Pahissa and Víctor Cuadrado, with a script by Cristina Pons, Luis Arranz, Luis Moreno, and Juan Salvador López. It was produced by Zebra Producciones, NewCo Audiovisual, and Documentales en Canarias S.L., with Barcelona Mobile World Capital Foundation as associate producer and 3Cat as a participating producer.

In this context, the Carmen Sagrera is integrated as a contemporary representation of advanced mobility. Its design and technology visually reinforce a narrative environment aligned with the values of innovation and technological evolution present in the series.

With this collaboration, Hispano Suiza continues to expand its presence in the cultural and audiovisual sphere, exploring new connections between automotive, technology, and digitalization.

Sergio Martínez Campos, CEO of Hispano Suiza, said: “For our brand, being part of Day One means bringing a vehicle that represents our technological vision and our commitment to innovation to screens around the world. Since our origins, Hispano Suiza has been closely linked to technological development, and participating in a production set at the Mobile World Congress reinforces that natural connection with the global ecosystem of technology and mobility of the future. Our relationship with the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation and the Mobile World Congress is solid and ongoing; two years ago we presented our technology through an experience with our simulator, and today we are doing so with the actual vehicle, projecting our vision of the future through design, engineering, and innovation applied to the automobile.”

Hispano Suiza, a technological benchmark at the Mobile World Congress

As part of Mobile World Congress 2026, Hispano Suiza accompanied the launch of Day One with a series of activations in Barcelona, where the Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera was present at various events linked to the technological and audiovisual ecosystem of the event.

The brand participated in various initiatives organized around the Mobile World Congress. From March 2 to 4, the Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera was on display in the MWC’s Talent Arena, reinforcing the connection between advanced mobility, technological innovation, talent, and digital creativity. On March 3, the stand was visited by institutional representatives and professionals from the technology sector. Likewise, on March 4, a round table discussion was held on the technological challenges facing the automotive industry today, with the participation of Sergio Martínez Campos (CEO of Hispano Suiza) and Juan Fernández (Technical Director of Hispano Suiza), moderated by Pipo Serrano (journalist specializing in innovation, board member, and strategic advisor on communication, narrative, and branding). The discussion addressed issues related to innovation applied to the automotive world, as well as the impact of regulation and cybersecurity on the sector.

The calendar culminates with the official premieres of Day One, which took place yesterday in Barcelona and will premiere on March 11 in Madrid. At both events, Hispano Suiza will actively participate in the experience by showcasing its vehicles, thus consolidating its integration into the narrative and promotional universe of the production.

The series will premiere globally on March 13 on Prime Video. Watch it HERE!

How the Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera is made: five steps to build the ultimate hypercar

Barcelona, 16 January 2025. Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera is the ultimate hypercar. Presented last June as a celebration of the brand’s 120 th anniversary, it represents a step forward in terms of performance, efficiency and driving range. The Carmen Sagrera is powered by four electric motors delivering 1,114 hp and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds, providing the thrilling driving experience a true gentleman driver seeks.

This exclusive model is handcrafted at the company’s Barcelona headquarters and involves a painstaking process that combines innovation, design and craftsmanship. These are the five fundamental steps in its creation, incorporating some of the recent evolutions that make this car a true work of art on wheels.

Phase 1: Pre-assembly of components and battery production

Production of the Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera begins in parallel with the customer’s configuration of the vehicle. As this is a highly customisable model, which makes each unit unique in line with the hyperlux concept coined by the brand, the company’s design team is in regular contact with the future owner to adapt the car to their tastes and inform them of the progress of production.

The first steps involve the pre-assembly of various items, such as the front and rear subframes, the suspension system, the axle shafts and the interior dashboard. The steering is installed on the front subframe, the rear subframe is fitted with the support for the inverters and the propulsion system (motors and gearbox, which have been previously tested and calibrated on the dynamometer).

At the same time, the company’s technical team starts building the 103 kWh battery pack, manufactured in-house, which made its debut on the Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera last year. Thanks to it, this model has a driving range of up to 480 km. At the same time, another team starts producing the high-voltage wiring.

Phase 2: Assembly of the chassis

The production of Hispano Suiza’s latest hypercar continues with the installation of the different body elements on the carbon-fibre monocoque, a process that is carried out by hand, with great attention to detail so that each piece fits perfectly. Some interior elements are also installed.

Phase 3: Painting, upholstery and rolling chassis assembly

After the pre-fitting and adjustment of all the parts, the painting process begins, in the colour specification selected by the customer from among the virtually infinite possibilities offered by the brand. This work is also carried out by hand by Hispano Suiza technicians, highlighting the company’s care and attention to detail. The final treatment of the body parts is also carried out.

The wiring, cooling system, steering and brackets are installed, whilst the front and rear subframe, and all the rolling chassis components – suspension, brakes, wheels – are also assembled.

In parallel, the interior upholstery, featuring high quality materials such as Alcantara or leather, is cut and sewn by hand, according to the owner’s selection.

Phase 4: final assembly and infotainment

The production process of the Hispano Suiza Carmen is drawing to a close. With the chassis already assembled and ready to roll, the technical team is focusing on the final assembly and adjustment of the interiors, which includes installing the infotainment and all the comfort systems it includes. The final assembly of the exterior is also carried out, including the emblems and logos with the stork as the main protagonist.

Phase 5: Final validation and handover

Once it has been built, the Hispano Suiza Carmen Sagrera is ready for delivery to the client. Around eight months will have passed since the start of the process. The last phase consists of the validation of the assembly during a test drive, both on the road and on the track, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (Montmeló), located next to the brand’s facilities. Once it has been thoroughly checked that the vehicle is in perfect condition and that all the systems are working correctly, it will be handed over to its new user, who will be able to enjoy a supreme driving experience.
