The Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne is an ultra-rare, all-electric bat out of hell

December 19th, 2021|

“The carbon-fibre Carmen has been designed and built on the F1 circuit’s fringe in collaboration with QEV Technologies, whose EV qualifications include running Formula E teams. For now, Hispano Suiza is being funded wholly by the Suqué Mateu family, whose interests include wineries, casino resorts, industrial packaging and real estate. The Suqué Mateu seat is the medieval Peralada Castle, with a library containing 100,000 first-edition books. Hispano Suiza is the only true family-owned car manufacturer in the world, the Suqué Mateus having overseen the brand across four generations.”

Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne 2021 review

October 29th, 2021|

Long-dead marques have been revived before, but few that have been dormant for as long as Hispano Suiza.

The Spanish manufacturer produced 12,000 cars in the first half of the 20th century but hasn’t made one since 1946. That’s changing with the arrival of the Carmen, an electric luxury EV offering the otherworldly combination of a four-figure power output and a seven-figure price tag.
